Welcome and thank you for visiting Poteet Orchards! We appreciate you taking time to learn more about our family run orchards and how strive to create the best possible product for your family.
Poteet Orchards is located a small community of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana with a population of ~786 people and 286 households. Our village community, located 20 minutes north of Natchitoches, Louisiana, runs deep with history due to our geographical location to local river tributaries that served as commerce conduits to expand Louisiana Purchase. Natchitoches (named after Natchitoches Indian tribe) was established in 1714 by Louis Jurchereau de St. Denis as part of French Louisiana. The city was incorporated in February 5, 1819 and is the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase.
While the river tributaries are best known for their movement of goods, they are ideal for the sandy soil for agriculture, especially nut trees like Pecan. Our family homesteaded this land in late 1800’s and it has been in our family ever since. In 1999, Poteet Orchards was established, to realize a dream of Charles and Loretta Poteet to pass on the love of the region while providing an platform for knowledge transfer pertaining to the land, life and most importantly family values.
We grow fine pecans and the next generation of Poteet's with our operation. We are committed to highest level of excellence in both our products.
